Sophie’s Cottage stays open during the school holidays, and our winter holiday program was full of theme days. Here is what the week of 6 to 10 July looked like.
Pyjama Day
The children arrived in their cosiest pyjamas for a day full of smiles and comfy fun.
Disco Day
The room was full of music, dancing and great moves. Dancing is wonderful for coordination, rhythm and burning off winter energy.
Disney Day
Children came dressed as their favourite Disney characters and enjoyed face painting, from lions and tigers to sparkly princesses.
Cafe Day
A family visited to share how a small local cafe grows into a business. The children learned about making coffee and food for customers, and played cafe for the rest of the day.
Practising our fire drill
We also practised our fire emergency drill. The children listened carefully and moved calmly to our meeting point. Regular practice helps children know exactly what to do.
Try this at home
- Have a family pyjama breakfast on the weekend.
- Put on some music and have a five minute dance party.

Visit Sophie’s Cottage
Sophie’s Cottage Kindergarten is a small, family-run preschool for children aged 3 to 6 at 9 Sophie Street, Telopea, open 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Families join us from Carlingford, Telopea and the suburbs around us.
