Sophie’s Cottage Kindergarten offers a nurturing and enriching preschool experience for 28 children a day aged 3 to 5 years old. Our well established service continues to provide a safe and stimulating environment where young children can thrive. We offer a comprehensive Pre-School and School Readiness Program with our team of long term, experienced and caring Educators. Our focus is preparing your child for the foundations of life long learning where children can explore, learn and grow in a compassionate and caring setting which can best be described as a ‘Home away from Home’. We would love you to come and see for yourself why we are loved and trusted by our families and children. We pride ourselves on meaningful relationships and connections with children and families in our care.

Sophie’s Cottage Kindergarten is guided by a strong belief that all children are capable, curious learners who thrive when they feel safe, included, and deeply supported in their individual journeys.
Inspired by our dual-ownership, we intentionally integrate allied health–informed practices to support children’s wellbeing, inclusion, and diverse abilities, ensuring every child can participate meaningfully and reach their potential.
We value play-based, intentional learning experiences that nurture early literacy and language, mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry, fostering confident and involved learners.
Our philosophy is grounded in respectful relationships, collaboration with families and professionals, and a commitment to continuous reflection to ensure high-quality outcomes for children aged 3–5 within our local Telopea community.

Start Strong Funding
Families can access Government financial assistance through programs like the Child Care Subsidy and the 3 and 4 yr old Start Strong funding relief, which support child development and enhance preschool enrollment to ensure effective participation in school readiness programs.
We offer an exciting play-based curriculum based on the Early Years Learning Framework that is designed to foster holistic child development, encompassing social, communication, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. Our curriculum features a variety of activities such as art, literacy, music, science, maths, and outdoor play to encourage and ignite children's curiosity and imaginations. Additionally, we have a comprehensive school readiness program in place, which supports children in their transition to school and prepares them for preschool enrollment.
Our teachers are passionate about Early Childhood Education and have the experience and qualifications to provide high-quality care that supports child development. Our Educators receive ongoing training to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field, ensuring our preschool enrollment process is seamless. We are fortunate to have full-time, caring Educators who contribute to our school readiness program, making Sophie's Cottage a very special place! They are our greatest asset.
We are proud of the history of our centre, a restored former Salvation Army Church that retains many features, including a stage! Our facilities are designed to provide a comfortable, safe, and inspiring environment for children to learn and play with their friends, supporting their child development. We offer well-resourced, age-appropriate resources, books, and equipment, along with beautiful indoor and natural outdoor play areas, all aimed at enhancing preschool enrollment and preparing children for our school readiness program.
