Our spring holiday program

Sophie’s Cottage stays open during the school holidays, and our spring holiday program was full of special theme days. Here is what the week of 28 September to 2 October looked like.

Spring Has Sprung Day

We started the holidays with spring crafts and activities, and warmly welcomed two new friends to Sophie’s Cottage.

Kids as Teachers Day

The children took on the role of teachers. They helped clean and organise our learning space, showing great independence and pride in looking after their preschool.

Beach Day

The sunshine was perfect for Beach Day. The children loved the water play, splashing and exploring, with sun safety in place all day.

Movie Day

The children made their own movie tickets, then settled in with popcorn for a cinema experience at preschool.

A visit from the fire brigade

Our local fire brigade came to visit. The children asked lots of questions, and the firefighters patiently answered every one. It was a great chance to talk about fire safety and community helpers.

Try this at home

• Make tickets together and have a family movie afternoon at home.
• Talk about what to do if there is a fire: get out, stay out and call Triple Zero (000).
• Give your child a small job, like tidying the shoes, so they can be the “teacher” at home.

Visit Sophie’s Cottage

Sophie’s Cottage Kindergarten is a small, family-run preschool for children aged 3 to 6 at 9 Sophie Street, Telopea, open 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Families join us from Carlingford, Telopea and the suburbs around us.
