This week our 3 to 6 year olds celebrated spring, talked about staying safe near water and started learning about time. Here is what the week of 21 to 25 September looked like.
Spring blossoms and water safety
To celebrate the warm weather, our Bees created their own cherry blossom trees. With summer on the way, we also talked about water safety: always swim with an adult, never run near pools, and listen to the safety rules.
The ice cream shop
On a wet day our pretend ice cream shop was very popular. The children made, bought and sold their own ice creams, which is a fun way to practise counting, taking turns and talking with friends.
Caring for babies
Our baby corner was a favourite this week. The children fed, dressed and cared for the dolls with lots of gentleness and kindness.
Letters and telling the time
In School Readiness the children practised telling apart b and d and p and q, matching each letter with familiar words. We also introduced time, looking at the numbers on a clock and the big and little hands.
Christmas concerts announced
We shared the dates for our 2026 Christmas Concerts and Graduation Ceremony. The children are already excited to start rehearsing.
Try this at home
- Before your next swim, ask your child to tell you the water safety rules.
- Point to the clock at lunch and bedtime and say the time out loud.
- Play shops at home with toy food and a few coins.
